Butter London Petrol Swatched

Petrol was one of the "overcoats" that Butter London came out with for the holiday season. It was described as an opalescent sheen of oil reflected in rain, and it really does look kind of like and oil spill. Not sure about the in the rain part, but thankfully I have not been stuck in an oil spill during a rainstorm before! Its a duochrome of shimmery purple to turquoise that is sheer enough to be used OVER polishes as a topper, yet not so sheer that wearing it alone would take so many coats you would want to rip out your hair. It was a little on the thinner side consistency wise but not too thin, just different than the normal formula. That being said it was smooth and easy to apply and this is 3 coats.

Cute and Mundane has some great swatches of this on her blog of the polish used as an overcoat over black. You can check them out HERE
