Sephora Black Friday Deals!

In previous years I want to say the black friday deals were $12 here and $10 in the USA. I could be wrong, but I feel fairly certain of that. This year, they are still $10 in the USA but they are $13 here. To be fair, our dollar is much weaker than it was in the last few years so I can't complain about that. And here are all the sets. There are a LOT of them this year!

So the big question is, what are you guys getting?

So I am completely and totally OBSESSED with this limited edition Hakuhodo/Sephora collaboration. Six brushes I want and NEED in my life. 

Forget the adorable keepsake box these brushes come in, I freaking want the brushes!!!

Formula X KVD VS Formula X Nail Polish Collection

This collection has launched at sephora.com and comes in the following shades: NaYeon, Vampira, Tijuana, L.U.V. and Color Piaf. And while I have never been a massive Kat Von D fan (not hating on the brand at all, just never been a brand that tends to consistently pull me in) I am a big fan of the Sephora X brand. I think they are a fantastic formula at a very reasonable price. And at $12.50 per polish, I may have to pick up most of these!!

Epic Rewards to Epic Failures to $50 Apologies

A few weeks ago Sephora hosted what could easily be described as one of the most horribly executed events ever seen in the beauty industry. A week long bonus points event was held with the promise of EPIC REWARDS the next day! Which sounded awesome! The rewards were amazing!

See? AMAZING rewards! Now I work a pretty a flexible job and like many I was updating the website pretty much non stop for 12 hours. LITERALLY. I feel kind of embarrassed saying that but its true. And the reason I like many others was updating non stop is because Sephora REFUSED to tell anyone when the rewards would be loaded. And then at noon PST (2pm my time), BAM! They were there! But within seconds (Sephora denied when called later that the rewards only lasted a minute or two and say they lasted much longer) they were all gone. Literally by the time I was forced to log in again all the rewards were gone. If they had 20 of each reward I would honestly be shocked!

Now, having only a few, being ultra exclusive could have been ok. IF they had been honest about it. If they had not sent 3,323 emails to every beauty insider, VIB and Rouge member for the entire week leading up to it reminding everyone to shop now to get bonus points to use on the Monday. It was going to be EPIC! EPIC REWARDS!

That turned in to EPIC FAILURE! It also lead to mass returns from insiders who felt conned in to shopping. I bet Ulta couldn't have gotten as much publicity or sales that resulted if they tried! Not that us Canadians had that option. I was beyond annoyed. I then get this email from a friend on facebook:

I guess this was tweeted out, though I never ever would have seen it if not for the message from a friend. So I did email. I had NO IDEA what would come of it, though I was pretty sure it was going to be a totally lame discount code for 10 or 20% off. It turns out, we all got $50 gift cards! No minimum purchase amount, no hoops to jump through, and good unitl the end of September (and holiday sets should start coming out pretty soon!!).

Let me just say, this was a HORRIBLE way to solve the problem. Yes, I am happy. Yes, I am sure everyone who saw the tweet and got the $50 is at least somewhat happier. But what about everyone not on twitter? Everyone who got screwed who did not happen to see this email? There was no attempt on Sephoras part to distribute this to everyone. Sephora as a brand did not tweet this. Who is @Calvin_Sephora? I assume many of you know who this Calvin McDonald is, but I sure don't. And I bet a lot more also don't .

So while I am thrilled to get a $50 gift card, I feel awful for all those who were equally disappointed in the sale who are all sitting here now upset that they were not informed of this email.

Sephora Favorites Skin Cleanse To Go

This is a new Sephora Favourites set currently available on the website (HERE) for $22. Now considering the dual cleanse from Glamglow is $21 alone, this is an AMAZING deal. I am making a commitment right now to use one of the two tubes of it I have sitting in my bathroom now tomorrow. If I like it I will pick up this set as its $1 more for the other 3 products. 

Now the other 3 product included are basically free. Or 33 cents each. The Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Cleansing Cloths I have heard a ton about but have never tried. The value of them is $10 and can be purchased on their own as well. The First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser With Red Clay has a value of $6.38 and the REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask  a value of $13.20. 

In fact, to be honest, after typing this out, I really want to try the cloths and the mask so I am crazy if I dont pick this up. Decision made. $50.58 value for $22!!!

Sephora Favorites The Great Cleanse

I think by now if you read my blog you will know that when it comes to skincare I am all about masks and peels. I am not really one for trying cleansers and oils. It has taken me ages to get my skin under control (not that you would know that over the past 3 weeks) and I don't like to mess to much with the cleanser and moisturizer that works. . I had my face break out about two weeks ago after a makeover at Sephora and am still recovering!

But now lets get down to the stuff you care about! The breakdown and value of this set! To start with, this set costs $58 and can be found HERE. The Sephora Collection Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover has a value of $7 but the chemical burns it left on my face are priceless (true story. Not touching this stuff again under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES). The Caudalie Make-Up Remover Cleansing Water is worth $16, the Nude Skincare Perfect Cleanse Nourishing Cleansing Oil a value of $6.62 and the Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil $13. The Fresh Soy Face Cleanser is $19, the Origins Checks and Balances™ Frothy Face Wash $5.10 and the Philosphy Purity Made simple $8.67. The Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser™ has a value of $8.14, the GLAMGLOW POWERMUD™ Dualcleanse Treatment $21 and the Algenist GENIUS Ultimate Anti-Aging Melting Cleanser a value of $15. The last two items are the Boscia Tsubaki Oil-Infused Exfoliating Powder with a value of $ 7.68 and the Boscia Mini Konjac Cleansing Sponge $6.67.

So overall the value of this set comes in at a total of $133.38. A great value. But if its worth it or not is something else. I would use the Glamglow, Caudalie cleansing water and Purity for sure. That is a 45.67. So for $12.33 Id get everything else. The value is certainly there, just not sure I need everthing else. With that said however, I will for sure be spending $30 at some point as I will need more dual cleanse and more purity. So basically........ I have no fricken clue.

SEPHORA COLLECTION SU Easel Brush Set

This brush set is PRICEY! Its $556! Now normally when any Sephora brand anything goes online for hundreds and hundreds of dollars I usually respond immediately with something along the lines of "You have to be effin kidding me!!", but to be honest, I think this set is quite a reasonable price..... for what it is. I have actually been fairly impressed each time I have tried one of the brands brushes, and this set is a great deal for what you actually get. I must admit, I would personally much rather get a few of the brushes here, and a few there to slowly build up even though it would be more costly in the long run. 

But to buy each of these individually would be $759 so you are saving about $200. That being said unless you are a brush collector  hoarder like me you probably don't need every one of these brushes. And to be honest I have quite a few Sephora Pro brushes on my wishlist, but frustratingly thankfully none are in this set making it easy for me to pass on!
