Leighton Denny Atmospheric Collection - Swatches & Reviews

I have 5 of the six colours in this collection. Meet Me On Venus was NOT one I was interested in getting and thus didn't order. That one is described as a creamy mink with a satin finish. NOT my cup of tea!

The first one I have here is Purely Platonic. Described as a cool gunmetal shade. Its a very pretty colour and I love it. It was a great consistency and applied smoothly though brush strokes can be seen if you arent careful.  Two coats was more than perfect and its the perfect silvery grey colour.

Next up is Big Bang. Dense black and silver glitter polish this one was just as nice as the last. It was not as severe a black as I worried it would be. It applied beautifully but the description was way off in my books. It was more like gunmetal glitter suspended in a clear base. I love it, and think it would look AWESOME over black or grey, but not at all what I expected from the Leighton Denny website. I swatched this wtih one coat.

Your Planet Or Mine is a described as an oil-on-water effect polish with purple, brown, blue and green undertones. It was the one I was most excited about. To be honest? The bottle colour is beautiful. A bright shimmery blue green teal, but as for the oil on water effect description? I don't see it. If you look really really hard you can see a bit of purple duochrome effect but not much. It is also MUCH darker than shown on the website. The formula is not bad. Not as wonderful as the first two but two coats will still do the trick. Its a little runnier than I would prefer, but not bad.

Meteor Match is described as shimmering pale marine injected with glitter. This one looked the most complex in the bottle. A silvey, icy blue with moments you can see hints of both purple and green and loaded with silver glitter. This colour is so pretty yet there is something missing. Its like they tried to jam too much into the shade without actually achieving.. finality? A bit more duochrome or a bit more of the glitter to show up would have been better. And much more opacity. This needs at LEAST four coats to be opaque, probably five or six if you want no visible nail line. The formula is watery and its frustrating to apply. The dry time thankfully is not bad so AT LEAST it has that. Its pretty when its on, but not as promising as the bottle suggests.

The last one I have from the collection is Astronuaghty. Described as an intense plum with sizzling red shimmer, its NOT. This description and the bottle pics on the website are no where NEAR reality for this polish. It looks more purple in the bottle shots, but the swatch pics below are colour accurate. Its more like a dusty rose with copper shimmer. And intense? The swatches are with three coats, but I would say at least four to avoid the visible nail line. It is not a purple in my books and certainly not a plum. The formula was not QUITE as runny as Meteor Match, but still more watery than it should have been.

Over all, I love Big Bang. Your Planet or Mine and Purely Platonic are not LOVE, but deep deep like. Astronaughty was the BIGGEST let down as the colour just was not what it says it is though its a perfect colour for my mom so it worked out well too. The only one I am really not sure about is Meteor Match. Its nice, but its way too much work for the typical day. I can see wearing for a special occasion if the colour matches though. I wish the formula was more consistent and the descriptions on the website were better, but I will certainly be ordering Leighton Denny polishes again.

I have never tried this brand before (or heard of it before tonight) so I have no clue the wear, quality, formula, brush or anything else! But I do know this collection SCREAMS my name as much as any collection can!!

Gosh Cosmetics Urban Jungle Collection for Winter 2011

Let me start saying but OH MY GOSH (no pun intended!!)! Look at her eyes! Stunning! This collection intrigues me. At first I saw it and I thought yuck to be very truthful. But the more I stared at the collection the more I fell in love with it.

The new product here in the collection is the Cheeks'n Lips. Gosh, has gone mulit-functional with these two in one blush/lip colours. The colour can be easily applied with fingertips or a synthetic brush, though I like fingers better when using this product as a blush and a lip brush when using it as a lip colour.  01 Back to Nature  and 02 Earth-Bound ( I picked up Back to Nature and will swatch it tomorrow for you!)


Mono Eye Shadows are also unique in this collection. They come in four new shades with a really gorgeous embossed surface. Dark Metal Grey 01, Rusty 02, Brown 03 Silver and Light Grey 04 all make for shadows you may not want to dig into and ruin the pretty look.

For a different look with these new shadows, try using them as a base for the great new eye dusting powders in shades 01 Clay and 02 Soil.

Metal Grey Mascara Mascara in shiny gray is a great finish for this eye look. The colour is 01 Metallic Grey


Light'n Shine Lip Glaze
This new colour of the Lip Glaze will be one you love or hate! Comes in  01 Rusty Red

Lauquer Nail
Now we know I love the nail polishes already. Now the colours are listed as 533 Black Passion, 603 Rusty, and 604 Fossil Grey. I bought Rusty and Fossil Grey, but Black Passion is a re-promote I already owned. Though I am not sure why its listed as 533 when mine is clearly labelled 553. I will assume it was just an error in the release info.

Nails Inc Nail Effects - Glitters & Holos & Flakies OH MY!!!!

Nails Inc is a UK polish brand new to Sephora.

Originally I was unimpressed with the polish. I tried a magnetic polish in purple and it chipped in my sleep. It seems to have not liked my base coat and top coat combination. That being said, it was smooth and easy to apply, the magnetic was not only easy to use, but it comes WITH the polish unlike a lot of brands. No need to buy the magnet separately. I will have to try these again with a different combo of base coat/top coat.

I later tried the Wyndham Collection which consists of a creme polish called Teal Black Kensington Polish and the flakie top coat called Wyndham Overglaze Top Coat. I LOVE it! It wore well for two days with no chipping at all before my getting excited about a new colour and changing course. It was unique and gorgeous. If I were to have any one complaint, I wish I could buy the flakie top coat separately as I have many teal and turquoise polishes that would work well.

Also purchased but I have not tried yet, the Special Effects 3D Glitter Nail Polish in Sloane Square 3D Glitter.

They also seem to have both a program you can sign up for that looks interesting as well as a really neat idea for a polish lover gift.

The website http://www.nailsinc.com is a fun site to look although they have the dreaded words: Deliveries are only made within the UK, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Sigh.......... I really really want those Heavy Metals.

Lise Watier Festive Winter Collection Swatches!

Earlier I showed you these two new polishes from Lise Watier, and while I was initially not excited about one of them, in person they were both GORGEOUS and I got both!

Festive Chic is a berry toned glitter bomb. Very similar to both Lippmann Good Girl Gone Bad and Razzle Dazzle. It applied smoothly and nicely, and two coats was more than sufficient. Fairy Taupe is a shimmery multi tone taupe that was........... problematic in application. It was almost a frost, and a PITA to apply. As you can see in the swatch, even with three coats you can still see brush strokes.

Now the other feature with these polishes is a light which is in the cap. The very top of the cap has a button you push and then a light goes on. I really dont love this feature and hope it is a one time thing. The shape of the cap is uncomfortable to hold because of the light, and really??? When are we ever going to need this? Yes, I may one day have a black out and be actually able to do my nails, but really? I'd rather save my two dollars and skip the light.

These polishes retail for $14.00 instead of the normal $12.00 and are available wherever Lise Watier cosmetics are sold (select Bay stores, select Shoppers and London Drugs. If you want them I would go quick though, seems counters got 2 or 3 of each polish and that was it!
