L'oreal Color Riche Balms VS Maybelline Baby Lips. Swatch Heavy Post!

So today I have for you a comparison. If you look online (especially YouTube) the general consensus is to compare these to the Revlon Lip Butters. They are basically the same thing afterall.............. NO THEY ARE NOT!!! They are NOT like Revlon Lip Butters at all. They are more similar to the Maybelline Baby Lips. They are not a balm like lipstick. They just simply are not. They are a tinted balm and therefor most similar to the Baby Lips.

The colour selection, similar to the Baby Lips is very small. There are eight colours in the line. I have five of the eight. I do not have them for the simple reason that they have been out of stock everywhere I have tried to find them!

So let me start by saying that the general consensus on these seems to be that they are NOT pigmented at all and are almost invisible on. I am as I have mentioned very times GLOW IN THE DARK. Let me quickly insert a quick self portrait:

I know, I know! I look JUST LIKE Casper The Friendly Ghost (except I have a sunburn eternally! Glow in the dark white and bright red at the same time).

So yes, on some these colours are very very sheer. But if you are not as white as I am they might be pretty light/hard to see on you.

This one I have actually had for almost a month! I didnt realize that the product I have been LOVING for quite sometime was one of these. I had been gifted two lip products (one was a Lancome, and one was this. I didnt even REALIZE it wasnt a Lancome lipstick as well)

And while I have shown you most of these Baby Lips before, here are the six I have:

As you can clearly see, I have been OBSESSED with the Grape Vine one recently!

And all of them swatched side by side:

As you can see, the Maybelline Baby Lips on the left are less pigmented than the L'oreal Color Riche Balms. So which are right for you? It depends. The texture and feel of them are both very similar. They are both certainly balms and NOT lipsticks. They are both very sheer and very moisturizing. The Baby Lips are about half the price retailing for about 5.49 though they can be found here for about 3.99 when on sale. The Color Riche Balms are about 9.99-10.99 but sales can find them priced around 7.99. So for price, the Baby Lips are certainly the cheaper option. The Color Riche Balms have a much more luxurious packaging and have a much nicer feel to the tubes. I personally prefer the L'oreal Balms but really like both! I suggest grabbing one of each and seeing which works best for you!

  1. I like the idea of coloured balms like this. I like wearing lipstick, but it's not something I feel comfortable refreshing on the fly, whereas I may be able to more easily with a balm. I'll try one out! Thanks for the info. :)
