This was just posted on the makeup alley forum. Its the inside of the Naughty Or Nice mystery box from Julep. They are all the same. I know I paid only $14.99 and I KNOW I said that I was paying for the two new polish colours and that was it. That I wouldn't care if I hated everything else in the box.
That being said, I am kind of bummed. Ok, really bummed. There is no difference in the boxes? We all get the same things? I think these are literally the TOP FOUR products I would have said "Anything but these and I will be good!". I don't like the hand cream, I have the kajal liner already and haven't/wont use it, I don't want the primer and I HATE the lipglosses. So yeah, bummed.
And really Julep? If you are going to make ONLY ONE option for boxes, I think you should mention that in the description. Especially when you have always had multiple options in the past. Its kind of TRICKING people in to buying multiple boxes. Don't think its cool
What do you guys think? Are you as unimpressed as I am?
I was disappointed they only had one box.. Causd ghen even though i see peoples posts with photos there is still the element of surprise as to which box i will actually get! And ghe add on is all super old. Olors even me a new maven already had.. I almost bought two and now im glad i didnt.. Ive never cared for their beauty stuff just the polish.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the typos.. On my phone with fresh polish
DeleteWell, the only mystery about the mystery boxes as far as I'm concerned is why did I get suckered into paying $25 for something that I didn't even know what I was getting and I could not return any of it if I didn't like it. I think I've ordered 2 or 3 since I joined in June but I swear "no more." It's just too much money when I may end up getting duplicates and nothing I like. True, they give you one or two items that you know of ahead of time but are they worth $25? No way. That being said. If they had a mystery box that was say, $10 and had 2 or 3 items, you had a choice of polishes only or polish and something else, I would probably go for that. Like you, I do not care for many of their other products. I don't mind trying them when I take a Maven box but if I don't like it I don't want to get another one in a mystery box. Even if I ordered it and got 2 polishes and only liked one, $10 is a pretty good deal. If I don't like either one then I can give them away and I haven't lost that much money. But $25 is too much to throw away. So that's my opinion. The other thing they could do would be to have different themes and we could choose which one: something like seasons - spring = pastel polishes, summer = neon; or a box with just foot stuff, one that's all glittery polishes, one that's all matte polishes. Or even little mini try it sizes and we get to vote on our favorite new color before they decide to add it to their permanent collection. Maybe I'll send them a note with my ideas. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad I didn't order the box this time. I already have too much stuff.
ReplyDeleteOne other thing: I was wondering how people were getting 40% off and I saw your note. Do you mean if people got the December Maven box they got a coupon for 40% off? I got the entire collection in December and I did not get a 40% off coupon. I also noticed on their Facebook page that not everyone who had one was able to use it. That seems really wrong to me and a poor business practice as well. Perhaps, I can contact them and see if I can still get a coupon. Do you know if it has an expiration date? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYeah, inside the december boxes was a coupon code for 40% off. each code was unique and good for a one time use. I used it on the box making my box 14.99. ONLY REASON I bought the mystery box. My mom bought the box and the add on with her coupon for 20.99. Halfway through the sale they disabled the coupons so that they would no longer work on the mystery boxes.
DeleteI'm so over Julep. I stopped buying mystery boxes almost 2 years ago because they are always a bummer.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason why I can't be bothered with Julep. Poor customer service all around.
ReplyDeleteSure it's disappointing, but it's not that big of a deal. The whole point of a mystery box is that it's a mystery. There could be one version, there could be 20. Julep isn't obligated to go one way or the other. To say people were tricked into buying multiple boxes is a little extreme. Even if there were multiple versions of the box, there is a high likelihood you would get duplicate boxes anyways.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited, I got it for $14.99 and I don't own many Julep polishes and no products. I won a year of free boxes in a contest, so happy about that. This is my first mystery box. I'm curious to try all the products!!! But I too, thought there would be all different boxes.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved to read more about the products in this post. Like, what the colour names are, etc, so that I can look them up on the Julep website and decide whether or not I'm excited to get this box.
ReplyDeleteFrom the looks of it, I don't think I'll be too crazy about this particular box. I don't use primer and have a whole lot of hand cream already. People seem to love to give hand cream for the holidays....
Not sure I like the colours either. I guess that's the whole point of mystery boxes... to get rid of their colours that aren't selling!
I was super excited, because I wanted to America nail polish and debating buying it for a while. Then it came in the box! Woo!
ReplyDeletegot an email stating they had an over order for this box. so they credited my acct and gave me a $25 gify card. i guess im glad I didnt get it.
ReplyDeleteHow many dissenting comments have you deleted? I wasn't rude or nasty. Sorry you don't like that others have differing opinions. Have a nice Christmas
ReplyDeleteI have never deleted a legitimate comment from this blog. Unless it was violent, racist or threatening. Maybe if you had the balls to use your real name and not hide behind anonymous posting it would have less of a chance as being flagged as spam? You may not agree with me, but at least I am willing to stand behind what I say!
DeleteWell, I was never rude or nasty, but you sure are. Maybe that's why you have such a bad rep on a few of the polish groups. And THAT is why I won't use my real name on your blog - you seem like the type of vindictive person that would hunt commenters down on the polish groups and cause problems. Again - I hope you have a Merry Christmas; you apparently could use some joy in your life.
DeleteI think the people who need joy in their lives are those who leave nasty anonymous comments on other people's blogs. Don't like it? Move on. There are millions of other blogs that you can go read, and you can surely find one that you enjoy. Why waste your time here if you don't enjoy it?
DeleteI am not understanding what your problem is here. Polish was never rude or nasty. She has never spoken anything but truth in her blogs. It sounds like YOU are the one who needs some joy in your life. The fact that you are posting from an Anonymous screen name is pathetic. Grow a set and post who you really are. Otherwise your comments really have no merit. It seems to me you are just an angry person who had nowhere else to take your anger out but here.
DeleteAnonymous, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas because you clearly have nothing better to do at this time of year than to leave rude comments on a freaking beauty blog. Like really? Don't you have family or friends to spend time with? Probably not if you're anything like this in real life. I wouldn't want to spend time with you either, you seem like a shit disturber.
DeleteYou werent rude or nasty? Accusing me of deleting dissenting opinions isn't rude? I am always willing to put my name behind what I say. And I would love to know all the polish groups I am known for causing trouble in. I have been kicked out of FOUR groups to the best of my knowledge, each time for calling out a scammer or a thief, ive been invited back in to 2 of those same groups.

ReplyDeleteI love that she's called out the minions to attack. You all seem very bitter, over nail polish. Why is that?
ReplyDeleteShe hasn't called out her "minions". We are her friends and we see the comments and we defend her. She did not ask ANY of us to comment or defend her. Not a single one of us. None of us are bitter over nail polish, we're bitter of the way somebody is treating our friend. That's what friends do - they defend their friends. This has nothing to do with nail polish.
DeleteYup! I exist only to do the bidding of Polish Jinx.
DeleteAnonymous, your writing style reads JUST like someone we all know of in the polish world. He's paranoid of... oh, say, people in uniform at his front door. Cheers! Or should I say Cheerio!
