Nailtini - A Cocktail For The Nails

So I know I am WAY behind on my posts, so much so I have no idea how or if or when I will ever catch up. So instead of finishing the thrift shop tour of NYC I thought I would take a break from that to show you some of the new nail polish I got! One brand you can not find in Canada (though you CAN order off their website) is Nailtini. When I first heard of the brand and the concept I fell head over heels in love right then and there. Since then I have managed to get about 8-10 of their polishes (13.00US for a full shot, 7.00 for a mini shot) and have been thrilled with them.

Nailtini has mixers, toppers and straight up colours to mix and match to make a cocktail perfect for YOU!

MIXERS
"These bold, glossy lacquers are chic and striking worn on their own, or opt to use them as shade-altering base colors underneath other polishes to transform your colour". They come in Cream, Espresso and Simple Syrup. I have never had any of these before and chose to get Cream and Espresso seeing as Simple Syrup is just the normal base coat. I was quite disappointed to realize when I got home this is basically a cream black and cream white.

Expresso - Wear alone or as a base to to deepen and intensify medium-to-dark shades.
Cream - Wear alone, for French tips, or to lighten and brighten light-to-medium shades.

STRAIGHT UP COLOR
"Think of this as the all-premium well menu, featuring glossy, glide-on nail lacquers in pure unadulterated color. Wear them "straight" or in any combination to create the nail cocktail of your choosing." I already had pink poodle, grappa and port. So to add to these I got Tahiti Breeze, Caviar Cocktail, Amaretto Fizz, Champaign, and Silver Slipper.

Silver Slipper - Slinky liquid platinum
Tahiti Breeze - Shimmering turquoise

TOPPERS
"Float one of these special-effect top coats over your nail cocktail to make it truly your own". These special effect toppers have been around long before the special effects trend came about. I already had blue flame (which I LOVE), Spritzer and Sugar Rim. I picked up Vodka, On The Rocks and Gold Haze this time around.

Vodka - Clear High Gloss

On The Rocks - Chunky Silver Glitter

All of these are Expresso. From left to right, topped with Gold Haze, On The Rocks, Vodka, and by itself. 

Next up is Espresso in action. From left to right is one coat Espresso topped with one coat of Tahiti Breeze, then one coat of Tahiti Breeze by itself, then one coat of Espresso topped with one coat of Amaretto Fizz, and lastly one coat of Amaretto Fizz.

Next up is Cream in action. First by itself, then followed by one coat topped with one coat of Silver Slipper then one coat of Silver Slipper by itself. 

Lastly is one coat each of Silver Slipper, Champagne and then Caviar Cocktail.

How Do You Orange?

So Spring time is here, and Summer is soon to follow. With that comes the onslaught of Spring & Summer collections. Seems again this year orange is a BIG colour. I thought I would compare some of my Oranges and see what YOU all like. What is your must have or go to orange for the upcoming warmer months? The only one I am not 100% sold on is Trout Pout. It DEFINITELY leans more pink than orange and is much more coral and much less orange. I regret adding it here, but I really didnt feel like starting a new wheel.

New Purses

I know I am SO very far behind on my posting. And I am still only halfway through my New York trip and have shown you none of the beauty products and only half the thrift. And yet, here we go with a more current post of some of my recent purses.

I've never been a fan of Coach bags. Part of it is I am not a big fan of logo purses of any sorts. LV, Gucci, Coach, Dooney & Burke, and others like them don't do it for me. I also am not a fan of nylon bags. Nylon Prada bags seem so popular and show up now and then at thrift stores. I think they look cheap. I KNOW that Prada is not cheap. I know many people like them. I never have. As obsessed with cartoon monkeys as I am (Paul Frank monkeys as an example) I have never gotten on board with Kipling bags. Le Sport Sac bags are cute, but not me. They just aren't my cup of tea.

So this feels REALLY bizarre showing you my newest bag finds and knowing one is a printed Nylon bag and another is a Coach bag! I guess you never know what will get your attention!

So this bag I could use some help with! I have NO IDEA anything about it. It is a Nicole Miller (NOT Nicole for Nicole Miller) and I LOVE the pattern on it. I love the size, shape and feel of the bag. And the strap seems to be real leather. It at least FEELS like real leather. The pattern is really funky, not at ALL me, but I love it! And for 4.99 and 10% off it was great to get a bag that was completely unlike anything I already have.

This bag I am not sure WHAT I was thinking when I found it. Brand new with a dustbag might have clouded my judgement as its NOT me and I am unlikely to use it. It is a brand new David Jones bag. Nothing exciting, not real leather, and for a $90 bag, I think I overpaid at 4.99 and 10% off. I guess we all have our moments of stupidity.

I do like the lining however!

Now this is the Matt & Nat Rev bag in linen and apple green. It is one of my favorite summer bags. I have had it for 3 years or so and paid 89.99 at winners for it at the time. Its retail was 285 I think. I still love it 3 years later and still wear it so I guess it was worth the cost.

Which is probably why I love this bag I happened to find at Salvation Army!

Not only from the very same collection, but also the same colour palette. I almost left it behind for that reason. I really have no need for two of the EXACT same colour bag but I really do think its super cute, a completely different shape and size, and I just couldn't leave it behind!

Now this bag, the minute I felt it I KNEW it had to come home with me. Its such an amazing AMAZING leather! And when I opened it up, imagine my surprise when I find out its a Coach Bag!

So I would like to present you all with my first ever Coach bag, the Chelsea Leather Field bag! Two tone brown leathers and no Coach label on the outside for ANYONE to see! Just a tiny gromet with the name typed on it but so small the lettering is not visible unless your face is directly in on it!

Tuff Scent 4 Ever And Soak Up The Sun Swatches & Review

After posting my excitement about the new Tuff Scent polishes, Tuff Scent contacted me and asked me how I would feel about reviewing one of them. I was thrilled and told them I would love to! They sent me 4Ever and Soak Up The Sun. When I opened up the packages I was in LOVE with both colours. And couldn't wait to try them out! 

4 Ever is a the most glittery, awesome.... glitter bomb of royal blue, turquoise and aqua. The bottle is just gorgeous. Of all the Tuff Scent polishes I own and have tried, this one had the least strong scent. It really didn't linger long and by the next day was completely gone. Usually I can still smell them if I sniff my nails for a day or two. This however is not at all a bad thing since I do not really care for floral scents! So for me that was a win.

Soak Up The Sun is more of a rose gold than the pictures show it. It certainly leans orange, but is more rose gold than anything. It smells like coconut and like I am used to, this one has a scent that lingers a good few days after application!

Now I really wish I could tell you  that these both applied like a dream and were a great formula. I unfortnately am not able to do so. Soak Up The Sun (SUTS from here on out) was fantastic. Application was smooth and even, and it was almost opaque in one coat. 4 Ever was a pain in the you know what. The below picture is after one coat. I tried my best to get it as even as possible but the glitter seems to heavy and the base seems to watery in this one. The glitter just falls off. It was really really hard to get this coat even THIS even.

As you can see, SOTS is basically opaque now. Look at the difference however between the two! Both are one coat.

This below is after two coats. SOTS is opaque and gorgeous. 4Ever is still patchy and a mess.

And here it is after THREE coats. Still patchy and no where near opaque. I wouldn't mind so much and just write it off as a layering polish only except its not even. And the polish kind of rolls off the base of the nail and pools if you dont hold your nails perfectly still. In these swatch pictures you can see it kind of pooling at the bottom of the nail. On my real nail it kind of pools on either side. Basically rolls off.

 And here it is after 4 coats (only 4 for SUTS).

All in all I LOVED the gorgeous colours of both of them, but 4Ever was just too much of a pain for me to recommend. The formula just did not work well. And I really really wanted to love this one the most! SUTS was PERFECT in every way and smells heavenly!

I will give the pretty blue glitter another try on top of a complimentary base (or bright green!) and hope it works better, but it is certainly NOT a stand alone colour!
