Thakoon for NARS Nail Polish - Swatches

Fashion and beauty have always gone hand in hand. Now, those hands have the nail polish to match. Introducing the Thakoon for NARS Nail Collection, the brand’s first collaboration with a fashion designer in the nail category. Already frequent collaborators at New York Fashion Week, founder and creative director Francois Nars has partnered with Thakoon Panichgul to develop a limited edition, six-shade nail collection.


In conceptualizing the shade range, Thakoon was inspired by the vibrant colors found in Indian spice markets. The highly saturated, high-shine shades come in an opaque finish, perfect for spring. Formula is long-wearing, chip-resistant and toluene-, formaldehyde- and DBP-free.  Since his first collection in 2004, the Thailand-born, Nebraska-raised designer’s clothes have graced chic, modern women around the globe, including Jessica Alba, Marion Cotillard, Rachel Bilson, and First Lady Michelle Obama.

There were four in this collection that I really wanted. Amchoor, Kutki, Koliary and Lal Mirchi. Now I know I probably wont ever get my hands on Lal Mirchi as its an exclusive to the Bleecker Street Store and was not yet there when I was in NYC. But I did just manage to get the other three! I know it sounds odd my saying that I don't want the purple but trust me. Its NOT purple. It is PINK! If you want to call it purple, it leans so pink, all I see is the pink.

I have to say. I LOVE NARS nail polish colours. I DON'T love the formula. That being said I have always loved the colours enough to put up with what I believe to be an inconsistent formula. Some are ok, some are far too thin. Some are streaky. So I had little hope for LOVING this formula. I LOVE THIS FORMULA! All three of these were gorgeous, almost opaque in one coat

These colours are GORGEOUS! All of these swatches are one coat (I was in a rush this morning and put the darker blue colour - Koliary on in only one coat) though I would suggest two coats. All in all, I really cant say anything bad about these colours. I love EVERTHING about them!

I bought these for 21.00 each at Sephora! They are not yet out in our Sephora stores but they are in the drawers underneath. You can just ask a sales associate if you they are not out. My wonderful SA called me when they came in as she knew I would want them!

Beast And Beauty Easter Swap!

I previously showed you all the wonderful Valentines Day gift I got as part of the The Beast & Beauty Valentine’s Beauty Blog Swap. My wonderful blogger FINALLY received her package from me (THREE MONTHS AFTER I SHIPPED IT!!) and you can see her reveal here. Anyways,  the lovely blogger behind Beast & Beauty's blog tried to start up an Easter swap and it didn't really work out. So we decided to swap packages ourselves! I feel awful it has taken so long to reveal it (I got it 2 weeks ago!) but didn't want to open it until I had time to properly enjoy it and take joy in opening it and of course photograph it for all of you guys! I opened it on Friday and WOW!! You can read her blog here!

I thought I would let Mystique herself introduce each item she sent me and why, and have thus photographed the lovely letter she included with the package!!

I actually bought one of these a few months back that was gorgeous. It was a neutral bordering on pink colour with gorgeous black lace pattern on it. I was in LOVE for the first three hours and then 2 of the nails just FELL off. So I am really excited to try these again (they were SUPER EASY to apply) and see if the first set was just maybe a dud!

A MASSIVE thank you to Mystique! I love everything (well, ok.... the lips kinda scare me.... LOL) and some of these are things I would not have ever chosen on my own (and would have missed out on!) and others are things I totally WOULD have purchased for myself had they been available here!!!

Smashbox: Life is Your Set!

I am not quite sure how I forgot about this set! This was one of the annual holiday sets that Smashbox puts out every holiday season. I have never tried Smashbox before but this set was found at Winners for 16.99. I am not a BIG eye liner girl and honestly thought that since getting the Urban Decay 24/7 gift set that contained 12 or 15 FULL SIZED pencils of my FAVORITE formula I would never need any more pencils! And truthfully, I guess I didn't NEED these. But I had a Winners gift card and couldn't pass them up! 

The set includes 5 eye liners in Emerald, Gold, Espresso, Black and Sapphire. The colours are quite diverse and gives you a bit of everything. They are still around at some Winners and TJ Maxx around here so I would go take a look!

Now these were extremely soft and creamy. Almost more creamy than the Urban Decay 24/7 liners. That being said, I did experience some drag with the Sapphire. And the colours were not QUITE as bright once swatched as they look as pencil lead.

All in all, I really really liked these. They are not quite holy grail material but were nice. The best thing about these and at the same time the most frustrating thing about these is they do NOT rub off. Like, not at all. It seriously took A LOT of eye make up remover (DIOR or Make Up Forever, I can not recall which I used but these are the only two that I do so it was one of the two). I have never had eye liners stay on THAT well or THAT long ever before. I do think both the colour pay off and the application was slightly better on the Urban Decay ones, but for 16.99 I would say this is a great set!
