The Outcome Of My Blogger Post!

So it seems there was a lot of reaction to the previous post I made. So much so that Ashley felt the need to post a response. I figured I should share it all with you and answer some of the issues in it.

So she starts by saying that the hate started when she gave her opinion on the fake Naked palette. There was no hate. I was adamantly apposed to it and I stated so many times. I never attacked her and stayed civil. And I will repeat here what I said there. I think it is VERY IRRESPONSIBLE to recommend trying an illegal product on or near the eyes. There are ZERO quality controls, fda procedures or ANYONE that these people are answering to. And as a blogger, I find it wrong to not even mention these. My issue was not that she said "it's dangerous, but try it!". My issue is she didn't ONCE mention the risks. She didn't mention anything other than "its only ten bucks! go for it!". Later, after my pushing the issue she said to try it on your hand or wrist first, but that was it. I had nothing against her. I just found the answer VERY VERY alarming because the person said clearly she asked her because she was so knowledgeable about makeup.

Now let me start with point one above. This may be true. If I took my disclosure from someone though, even if I had their permission, I would have credited them with it. But if that is the case, then I do apologize. I would like to point out though, that this WAS what her disclosure looked like if you recall:

And starting the day after my post, this is her new disclosure. Totally different, and she put a footnote in saying where she got it. I do find it odd that if it was a disclosure that she had permission to use, why she would change it the minute she was called out on using it. But that is neither here nor there.

Point two of that above post that is circled. I never said she was forcing people to give her their money. I said I found it really really appalling that she had a donate button up to help her go on a trip to do makeup shopping. And when I made a comment about it earlier, she took down the page. If she sees nothing wrong with it, why did she take it down?

Now again, we will do this step by step. How did we twist her words? This is her ENTIRE unedited comment. The rest of the chat actually makes it look much WORSE than this comment on its own. About how expensive the box was and how she wouldn't spend the money on it. So HOW did I twist her words?

Now, as for the last bit, I find this the most impressive part of the post. I will first point out that I never accused her of being behind these boxes. I posted a link that suggested she was. In the link though, she also vehemently denies any connection. She NOW says she started up the companies but FOUND OUT IT WAS fake makeup and chose not to go through with it. Then I have a few questions.

1. Why did she advertise the first box like this if she didn't know they were fakes?:

2. Why did Beauty In A Box START only AFTER she got kicked off of facebook/shut down from doing Ready Steady GO?

3. Why did she post this in the link I supplied you all with yesterday? The link can be found HERE

Now shes says THERE that she had ZERO affiliation. Now she says yes, she was the one behind it but.... So don't worry everyone. The REAL story is shes not lying now, she was lying then?

Deborah Lippmann Romantic Rapture Collection Is HERE!

I JUST got the email from Melanie! The Romantic Rapture collection is IN STORE!!! The three colours in the set are Moon Rendezvous (dark grey blue with fine pearl shimmer), Careless Whisper (beige with gold shimmer) and Groove Is In The Heart (pink with shimmer). I think the only one I plan to get is Moon Rendezvous. But be warned, the promo pics seem waaaaaaaay off from reality!

As an example, Deborah Lippmann just posted THIS photo of Moon Rendezvous on facebook

See what I mean? And once more, here are the swatch pictures I posted a few weeks back:

To order these just call Melanie Drain at 1-204-926-8105 or email her at Melanie.Drain@holtrenfrew.com.

Which Bloggers Do You Read?

I have started and stopped this post many times in the last week. But due to recent events I feel the need to discuss this. I am the first to admit I am not a guru or an expert in anyway shape or form. My opinions are simply that. MY OPINIONS. I have no expertise, no education in makeup or nail polish (though I am in the middle of a chemistry degree!) and I basically just talk about what I love and what works for me. I am not an expert writer. My grammar is not anything special, nor is my spelling or vocabulary (which never ceases to amaze me considering how much I read!!). But I blog because I love it and am always careful to make sure what I promote and talk about are things I truly like and believe in.

So when I see a blogger promote using illegal and fake makeup products I sit up and take notice. This bothered me so much. I will be the first to say - I don't necessarily  object to fakes. I KNOW they are illegal, but I will admit I have purchased some sterling silver pieces that were fakes. I didn't want to spend $850 dollars on a necklace I was in LOVE with and found a piece from China that was IDENTICAL (and had the fake logo) and it was $8. I had it tested when I got it (cost me $20 to test!!) and it WAS sterling silver. But it was not makeup and I was assured it was indeed sterling. But I would never share the link (unless specifically asked) and I will publicly admit its illegal and wrong. But when someone posted a link to a fake Urban Decay Naked palette for $10 bucks in a Facebook group I am in, I was stunned to see a MAKEUP BLOGGER say go for it! I was stunned. I piped in (as you know I have a BIG mouth!!) with all the risks and things that could go wrong. This blogger was THANKED for her advice to try it! REALLY???
I went to investigate her blog a little closer.

Her disclosure was cut and pasted from a different blog (that is conveniently a private blog that is not accessible to the public). This was the first red flag that something was not entirely right in whoville!

Then I saw this and got really offended. I mean, asking for donations to go on a trip? I personally find that so trashy. I have donated a few times to a few great causes. But so she can go fly to New York for a few days? Since my commenting on that she has since deleted this page from her blog.

And then I started getting comments from others when they saw my disagreements with her in the group. One pointed out how many posts of hers she lies in and states she bought things when they were sent to her for review. Or in posts where she just "forgets to mention" it was sent to her for review. I have no proof of this and can not say if it is true or not. But I was sent some examples.

Here is a great one:

NOWHERE did she say she got this for review...because this wasn't even sent out until the end of November? This was posted October 22. The disclosure says it was purchased by her. But when someone inquired with the company they were told a select few bloggers were sent some for review ahead of time but that the only other way to get them was to purchase it when they went on sale.

Another issue I have is with sincerity. I post blog reviews that are products I have been sent for review every so often. Some get rave reviews (hello, Darling Diva?! LOVE!!) some get really poor reviews. But I would never review something and say it was good if it was not. Whether I paid for it or not!

Awhile back this was posted by Ashley. Apparently, she was unhappy with a company that had sent her a few boxes before deciding they didn't want her reviewing her products anymore.

I wondered why it had suddenly become a private vlog only viewed with her permission. Seems according to Ashley in her own words is that spicy immediately contacted her and offered her some kind of deal and she then changed the stats to private.

That is what SHE posted on facebook about it. It has since become public again after pressure from people asking her where it went. I am unsure if she still gets free boxes, but she said she was going to continue reviews to milk them out of free boxes.

Now, on January 20th (3 days ago) this showed up on her blogs wall. I don't know about you, but if I dont like business practices of a company, I STOP supporting them. Since everyone knows my feelings and opinions on RBL I will use them for an example. If Ji herself phoned and offered me one of every polish in the entire Rescue Beauty line, I would say NO. And I refuse to send any business her way.

Now most beauty junkies have subscribed to or at least seen many different Beauty Subscription boxes. I am a Julep Maven myself. But it appears that someone started a box offering luxury MAC, Benefit, Dior and other high end makeup in a $25 subscription box. It got removed from facebook a few times and has gone under a few different names including Ready Steady Go Makeup! and Beauty In A Box Makeup. I had heard of them through this blogger a few times but did not realize that they were FAKES! I assumed that the blogger must obviously have not realized that they were fake products. How could you promote that to your readers if you knew? Well....... let me first show you some screen shots of the brands advertising.

Maybe she missed that? Maybe she assumed by replica they meant dupe? And it was a different legal brand? I feel its better to give people the benefit of the doubt and not jump to conclusions. So what if she was promoting it?

Hmm....... Then someone did some research and came to the conclusion that the person who was actually selling these boxes? You guessed it. According to this link (you have to read through most of the first page) is none other than Ashley herself.  THAT LINK IS HERE!

I have ZERO affiliation with this blogger at all, but it will not be a blogger whose reviews I personally take in to consideration before making a purchase. Thats just me though!

Darling Diva Polish Swatches

Look at how gorgeous these there polishes are! I was thrilled when Carrie contacted me and asked me if I would review some more of her polishes! And these polishes might not be the colours that I would have chosen if I had gotten to pick, but they are fantastic polishes! The colours are so vivid and bright, the application, formula and dry time amazing, and from past experience I KNOW that in 6 months or a year that they will still look EXACTLY like this! And you know what? I think I have now found my St Patricks Day manicure!

Leprechaun's Gold is a fine green holographic glitter polish. The polish is a clear base loaded with holographic green glitter and gold glitter. The green and gold seem to be the same size and the ration seems to be about two thirds green one third gold. Enough that the gold IS visible and obvious, but still clearly a green polish! Below is ONE coat over Zoya Purity and Zoya Raven.

Menage A Trois is a transparent pink jelly base loaded with various sized pink hex glitters and holographic pink hex glitters. Below is one coat over Zoya Purity and Zoya Raven.

Rescue Me is a charity polish with all proceeds going to the Basset Hound Rescue. From my understanding, 100% of the PURCHASE PRICE goes to the charity. NOT the profits, but the full TEN DOLLARS of the bottle price. That is right, this bottle is two dollars more than the rest of the line, but if all the money is going to a charity and not just the profits, then who am I to complain?

Rescue Me is made up of  black bar and mini hex glitter, white bar and mini square glitter, and large holographic pink hearts ina  clear base. Its similar in feel to Lynnderella's Connect The Dots, but with pink hearts. Same idea though. Here it is, one coat over Zoya Purity, Zoya Raven and Julep Renee.

All of these polishes were a joy to work with. They were easy to apply, the base in each of these was thick enough to hold and suspend the glitter without being thick or gloopy, and they dried without being very rough or feeling they would need 6 gallons of top coat to make them smooth. The dry time on these was also very good. The only thing worth mentioning is that the hearts in Rescue Me kind of have to be scooped out a bit and placed where you want them, but I find that kind of standard with any polishes with oversized glitters.

Here is one coat of each on their own (if they don't have underwear does that mean they are going commando?)

And this is two coats of each on their own:

Do I recommend purchasing from her? She is wonderful. Her polishes are fantastic. I have some that are almost a year old and no issues with breakdown, bleeding or curling glitters. She has great customer service and a great product!
