Royal And Langnickel Revolution Brushes Reviewed

So I already showed you all the SILK line of brushes (HERE).  I really do love them, and I love these ones even more! These are a SLIGHTLY more expensive line and like the other ones, some are genuine hair, some are synthetic. These are the four I got (must get more!!).

BX-35 Revolution Highlight Contour - Royal & Langnickel
This is a great brush. Its unique in my stash, and is perfect for contouring. it gets right into the hollow of the cheek but does not create a sharp or harsh line. its flat, but it kind of flares at the end making the shape quite unique. And also allowing it to pick up the perfect amount of product! Its not too dense, and has been WONDERFUL!

BX-20 Flat Top Kabuki Brush - Royal & Langnickel
This is my magical eraser. Its just perfect for buffing out products you over applied or applied badly. Its dense, but super soft, and I chose the synthetic version so it works with liquids as well. This was the most expensive Royal and Langnickel brush I got at $39.99 retail (Think the pro price was $24?). This brush being as big and as dense as it is does waste a lot of product, and like the Shiseido perfect foundation brush it is a bit of a bitch to clean, but it also is like the Shiseido in that it takes mere seconds to buff in a product over your entire face! Totally and completely worth it, and I would put this along with the BX-35 as my two favourite brushes I own from the brand. The shape has not quite stayed perfectly round, irrelevant in its purpose or application, but worth noting. Its handle is also slightly thinner than the SILK one I got which makes it more comfortable to hold in my hand.

BX-95 Lg Smudger Brush - Royal & Langnickel
I love this brush for defining the outer V, getting in to apply shadow as liner to the bottom lash line and to getting shadow into the crease. Its just the perfect dense (but not too dense), super soft, and pointed brush. I actually may need to pick up a back up of this one! Its smaller and more pointed than the one from the SILK line I reviewed last time and I must say I tend to reach for this one more than that one.

BX-80 Detail Brush - Royal & Langnickel
This brush is a little more flexible and fluffy than the MAC 239. Its good for applying shadow to the lid. I find its just a little less dense than would my imaginary PERFECT brush in terms of product pick up as I really like the brush I use on my lid to pick up more product, but if I were honest, this probably does a better more concise job for that same reason.

And here are all the Royal Langnickel brushes that I have been using over the last 5 months together. I really really am impressed by these and look forward to picking up a few more. I do have some sigma brushes I picked up in January that I have not yet started to use (I was busy trying these) and I will start to put those in to rotation to give a fair try, but so far, these are the TOP of the list for me for NON luxury priced makeup brushes. They don't feel at all like budget brushes, and yet are still quite on the affordable side!

**please note as with the other Royal and Langnickel these were given to me by the brand to review and test out and not purchased. That being said, we all know that has never stopped me before from being totally 100% honest!

Organizing The Brush Stash With Pampered Chef?!

So this is what my brush stash and pencil liners looked like yesterday. Scary, I know! 6 cups, and shadow pencils floating around, and just simply a pain in the you know what to deal with.

Now I used to sell Pampered Chef many years ago. Almost 10? And I did it mainly so I could get all my kitchen stones for free. Seriously, never plan on using a cookie sheet again. Stoneware is the ONLY option in my kitchen! But I also knew they had the solution to my problem! So when a girlfriend posted that her sister was having a Pampered Chef party, I KNEW exactly what to do!

Let me introduce you to the Pampered Chef Tool Turn-About. This costs $24.50CAD but I think its only $19.95 for you Americans. And in my kitchen I have both this one, and the slightly smaller older white version. And now I have one in my bedroom!

Now the top middle tier goes all the way down so I really was having brushes and such lost in the depths of it. But for now a sheet of tissue paper solved that problem. I will likely get some beanbag fill from the craft store or beading to replace the tissue with in the near future, but for now, this works!

And then I started loading it up! The best thing about it is that it has a really well made spinning mechanism so no matter how much you load it up, it spins easily and effortlessly!

Even all my disposable mascara wands now have a spot!

Urban Decay 24/7 liners anyone?

And now its full. And as you can see above, there is still some room in it, so I essentially have one empty section, but other than those 24/7 liners (I swear they mate and multiply!) and the mascara wands each section has room left in it to grow.

I would love to hear your ideas for brush and pencil storage! What do you use? Does it work for you, or are you still working on finding a solution that fits your needs?

Royal And Langnickel SILK Pro Brushes

I got brushes from two different lines in the brand. These are from the SILK line.

Now these are from the Silk line. The other brushes I got are from the one line higher than this, but to be honest, I did not notice much difference in the performance between the two lines. Now this was intended to be a head to head comparison with the Bdellum brushes back in January. But that would have been like sending a five year old to compete on Jeopardy against Ken Jennings. They are not even close to being in the same league. While Bdellium tools are great for budget brushes, these are great for BRUSHES.  This is a company that has been around for ages and they do brushes. Only brushes. Both art and cosmetic. And after all these years doing brushes, I guess they learned a thing or two!

As you all know, I am a brush snob. I primarily use my Hakuhodo brushes, an amazing MUFE brush, Edward Bess face brush, the new Chanel les beige brush, and well............ yeah. Those are my standard. So when I started testing these I thought I would give it a few weeks, and 5 months later I am still using these. Ok, I reach for my les beige brush a lot also. Its just unlike any other brush on the planet. But otherwise, these are the tools of my makeup kit. And I can not believe I am saying this, I DON'T miss my other brushes!

Now all these brushes are super soft on the skin and have had zero shedding. Let me start this review by saying that now instead of typing it under each brush!

BC141 Synthetic Bronzer SILK Pro - Royal & Langnickel
This brush is synthetic and thus can be used to apply liquids as well as powders. It CAN give you an airbrush finish when applying liquid foundation though I wont say its BETTER than the shiseido perfect foundation brush it can give you the same look. What I use this for in general though is applying my finishing powders and ambient light powders.

BC101 Synthetic Powder SILK Pro - Royal & Langnickel
I like not only how wide this brush is so that you can use it as an overall face powder brush, but I like how flat and tapered it is on the sides. This brush has been great for really blending in and working in any contouring I am doing. I have used the sides of this to apply blusher or bronzer as well, but its just so soft and yet dense that it really not only picks up product really well, it really does a great job blending everything out. Just a great all around face brush!

BC460 Natural Hair Angle eye Blender SILK Pro - Royal & Langnickel
This brush is great for blending out an eye look. Its big without being too big, and its super soft. I seem to notice on this brush that I have an odd rogue hair or two on it, but it seems to be the only brush that is doing this and am sure I could trim off the few stray hairs. It is natural hair so I wouldnt apply a cream base or primer with this, but it does a fantastic job in blending everything out.

BC430 Natural Hair Crease SILK Pro - Royal & Langnickel
This is similar to a MAC 226 with a longer brush head. Its also not quite as dense. While it does the job, I actually found this one to be the least soft of all the brushes. Now I have very sensitive skin and find many brushes "normal" people love to be scratchy or uncomfortable. So when I say this is a little prickly, keep that fact in mind. Now it is quite long for a crease brush so if you have a deep crease you might really love this brush. Its really not my favourite though.

BC420 Natural Hair Smudger SILK Pro - Royal & Langnickel
Now this is what I tend to use in the crease! It is similar to a MAC 219 if the 219 was more rounded and a little larger. Its as soft as all the others minus the one above. If you like me have very small eyes (I used to be made fun of in school and told my eyes looked Chinese. Yes, racist. And yes, I have tiny eyes) this will be great! I see a few stray hairs on this one too, but after washing and using non stop for 5 months, having to trim two or three rogue hairs is acceptable I guess!

Comparison between the crease brush and smudger:

BC402 Natural Hair Mini Flat Smudger SILK Pro - Royal & Langnickel
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this brush. I tried the MAC 214 which I guess would be the similar brush from them, but its not the same. This is just the perfect combination of dense and not dense and its super soft and it just is great for packing shadow on the lid. Again, I have very small eyes and find many brushes too big. This is the perfect brush for me.
