My May Julep Choices!

This month I am getting quite a bit from Julep, but in my defense, ITS MY BIRTHDAY!!! (cinco de mayo!!) so why not?

I am getting all but one of the duos. The swatches above are Shown from left to right: Moonlight & Starlight, Sequins & Showtime, Luck & Magic, Coconuts & Cabanas, 5th Ave & Broadway. I am getting all but Sequins and Showtime.

I am also getting the Plush Pout in Electric Coral. The swatches below (from left to right) are Magenta Plum, Almond Nude, Aurora Pink, Cardinal Red, Vintage Mauve, Fuchsia Berry, Elecrtic Coral and Flamingo Pink. I already own Aurora Pink and while I really wanted Vintage Mauve, it would not work in my box no matter how I tried to swap and flip things around.

I am also getting the clear brow gel (I LOVE the brow powder, so figured I would try this!

And then, the polish. Julep is a polish brand after all. Or at least it was a polish brand. Starting to think its become a general beauty brand. But I am getting basically the entire collection minus the red and the pink.

So the question right now is what are YOU getting? Did you go as nuts as I did? I was lucky in that I was able to customize the Ultimate Upgrade thanks to my mom. She has a customizable box and just so happened to have chosen the three items in my box that I did not want in hers. So I deleted all her choices, made them my own and she will take the ones she wanted out of my box!!

Birchbox March Unboxing!

My March birchbox came! And I don't hate it as much as I thought I would. I feel like right now that is the best I can say about it. I was so unhappy with the last few and the same darn samples every single month that they gave me this box for free as an apology. But I was supposed to get another Harvey Prince sample in this box and that was enough for me to quit. This is box number four and as an apology for getting Harvey Prince in every box (and more than once in some boxes) they gave me a free box with their improved selections only to give me another Harvey Prince? I was livid.

Then my box came! And it did NOT have the Harvey Prince sample it was supposed to have. So I was instantly happier!

Beauty Blender duo. I may be the only beauty blogger on the planet who has not yet tried this, but I haven't. And at $32 for this little set, there was little chance I would. So thrilled to get it!

A shampoo. Yay. I don't use shampoo. This has a value of $4.59 for normal people though its worthless to me.

Mirenesse lip shade - It says I was supposed to get a lovely shade called Paris and instead I got a bright red. Its value is $7.04.

I was thrilled to get to try this. But I sadly cant. It has a crack down the side of the container, and though it does not seem to have leaked at all and I can feel the product inside when I shake it, it will not pump anything out. So if it worked, it would have a value of  $10.80 but it literally is worthless.

And then instead of Harvey Prince, I was happy to get this Catherine Malandrino one. It has no size information on it, but I am assuming 1.2ml since that is what most of the ones from other brands I have are sized. So the value is about $3.12.

So how do I feel about this box? Well, I am happy I did not get the Harvey Prince sample. Had I gotten the lip shade the box said I should get as well as a moisturizer that wasn't broken and 100% unusable, I would have been very happy. As it stands, I am NOT at all happy. But I will wait to see how Birchbox handles the damaged item before cancelling.

The value of this box should be $57.55 in value but since the moisturizer is worthless the value is $46.75.

Overall if they replace the moisturizer they will keep me for another month and I will be happy.

Julep March 2015 Unboxing

Let me just start with the fact that no matter what you crazy Americans call these candies, they are ROCKETS!!:

Smarties are chocolates and you must always eat the red ones last.

Now for my box, I got Nayely, Chit Chat Lipstick, and the liner (though the lid of my liner will literally NOT come off so I must wait for a new one to come in the mail!

Then I got Francis (as a gift for taking 3 add ons), Bjork, Tyra and Harmony:

March 2015 Cate And Chloe Unboxing

So after skipping the last two months of my Cate and Chloe subscription box the sub is back!

The little bonus this month:

And then the goods. I have to say, I honestly would NEVER have bought either item (or even looked twice at either one) but actually surprisingly like both!

These earrings are far longer than anything I would normally buy. I am fairly certain they match a necklace they already sent me, and I am glad they came separately. I would never wear matching earrings and a necklace (certainly not this set) but on their own I quite like them.

They are stamped 925 and are quite comfortable. But they are solid.

Overall, I don't think they are too long and feel fairly certain I could pull these off!

And the second piece is a necklace. Its interesting and its oxidization is not uniform. Its much darker on the left than it is on the right and I am not sure how I feel about that.

Overall, I am happy with this box.

EDIT - I did shoot them an email along with the picture of the necklace about how the oxidization stops halfway through the necklace and they said its intentional but since I am not happy with it they are sending me a replacement piece. CANT stress enough how great the customer service is. And twice now I have paused my subscription easily with a quick email!
