Avon Super Shock Gel Eyeliners Swatched!

Marc Jacobs Gel Liners and Julep Gel Eye Gliders. As far as I am concerned there are no better out there. And I have been doing my darndest to test as many liners as I can get my grubby hands on.

Enter the Avon Super Shock liners. I had to try them. They come in 5 shades. From the top left and going clockwise: Blackout, Plumful, Aqua Pop, Intense Brown and Cobalt.

Now I have two to show you all today.

Cobalt and Plumful. The only complaint I can really give about these is the names. I would love to talk to the crazy person who thought the smart place to put the names would be near the tip of the pencil so when you sharpen it (yes, these are ones you have to sharpen, like the Julep but unlike the Marc Jacobs) you sharpen away the name after one or two times.

Aside from the stupid name placement, there is not much to say about these that the swatches dont say for themselves. INSANELY pigmented, smooth, and soft like butter!

I would say the only complaint is how soft they are. But that is also a great thing. So if its a great thing but also a pain in the you know what, what do you do? Simple. When its time to sharpen them, throw them in the freezer for 5-10 minutes before you sharpen them to harden them up a bit and make them easier to sharpen!

These cream shadows retail for 5.99 each. They are almost ALWAYS on some kind of sale and I think I picked them up for $3.49 each. Avon is a brand I am not usually one to shop from. I know that they are quite popular but aside from the suede polishes I don't tend to have a lot of luck with the brand. Some products are ok, some are great, some are terrible. I do not like taking chances. And I HATE brands that are so inconsistent.

But since I am a sucker for cream shadows, and the only drugstore eye products I have enjoyed in the last.......... oh, 5 years has been the Maybelline Color Tattoos. So I thought, why not try these?

I got Pebble Stone, Candy Sorbet and Frothy Mocha.

Now the colours themselves are very muted and very neutral. Perfect for me and I was extremely happy to see that they were what I was hoping they would be! That's the other main reason that I don't like shopping Avon. The photos of the colours are TERRIBLE and you can rarely see what they really look like!

So when I saw the shadows and got really excited. And then I felt them and they feel smooth and buttery. So I was even more disappointed than when I swatched them. Do you remember the Revlon blush sticks that came out 6 months back that you had to swipe 30 times to get no colour pay off and a waxy gross residue? These remind me of those. They aren't thick and heavy like those, but they have the same pay off! They have almost NO colour pay off and the colour you do get kind of sits on top of the skin.

Now they are not waxy or uncomfortable on the skin once you get enough payoff, but they sit on top. They really don't melt in or sit firmly. They are really smooth and kind of........ wet feeling so they slip and slide quiet a big. All in all, I like the look of them, the colour of them, but I really DON'T like these in practice!

Cleaning & Purging The Stash - The Lip Glosses & Stains

So here I go with the Glosses and Stains. I am really not the biggest wearer of these and I therefor really need to STOP DROP AND STAY AWAY FROM BUYING THESE!! I really don't know what to say. I had what I can only assume was a brain aneurysm  last year and purchased 11  LipFusion lipglosses and 9 pencils from the same brand. What was I thinking? Thankfully I was able to sell most of them and purged 3 or 4 today. So I have no more in my stash. Boy was THAT brand a mistake! I have nothing positive to say about them no matter how much I tried to embrace them!

First up is three lipglosses from a brand called Lipstick Queen.

As you can see I have never used the centre one before. But it was a gift from a lady I love and I can not bare to part with it. The set was a three piece set

This is how the set came

Then I have these two new Le Metier De Beaute Lipglosses. These two I JUST picked up from Winners for a price of 24.99 each! They are certainly not in my normal comfort zone but I couldn't pass up the deal and hope I end up really liking the colours. I already have fallen in love with the formula.

The more I try beauty products from Givenchy, the more I LOVE products from Givenchy! I just wish they weren't so pricey!!

And here are some random ones. The Lancome one came free in a gift with purchase and it looks SUPER bright. But its perfect on and just the right amount of colour!

I debated where to put this Chantecaille one. Should it go with the glosses or lipsticks? But its such a sheer colour I had to place it here. I really love this and this is my second tube of it! Probably the only Gloss I have EVER finished (aside from a discontinued By Terry one).

And this is about 3 coats on the back of my hand, just to give you an idea of how sheer it is.

And then from Avon, her is one of thier tinted chapsticks. It gives off SO MUCH colour that I almost classified it as a lipstick!

And here is all of them together! Stay tuned for part three - the lipsticks!

Cleaning & Purging The Stash - The Lipbalms, Chapsticks And Treatments

So I previously showed my eyeshadow stash and believe it or not - that was AFTER cleaning and purging the stash! Being stuck at home seems to be the best time to clean the stash. I am actually quite proud of how much I purged and cleaned. So I will start with the chapsticks. I have no idea HOW they disappear as fast as they do, but I SWEAR they have feet and runaway on me! So as many chapsticks and lipbalms as I have been sent/bought/given this is all I have! Not bad! (I did throw out some VERY old ones and gross ones and almost gone ones!).

And I am NOT a fan of lipbalms that come in jars. I just dont like the idea of having to stick your fingers in the product. But I picked up the Korres one in NYC last time I was there and LOVE it! And believe it or not, Tokyo Milk is the first lipbalm in a jar I have ever finished. So I bought a second! And then I have one old MOR lipgloss (I had three, one was almost gone and the other was gross so I purged them) and a new tin one I picked up at Holt Renfrew in the past few months.

And here are the old MOR lipbalms vs the new ones. Maybe they are two different lines? I am not sure, but I like them both!

And I am pretty sure that EVERY beauty junkie out there has these two! The mini set that was the Sephora Birthday Gift this year! I loved last years bubble bath from philosophy. I can't wait to see what this coming years gift is going to be!

I recently got this at Winners. I am so thrilled with the quality and consistency of this. I just have to remember to keep using it! It is the best lip scrub that I have used in a long time. I used to really like a scrub from the Body Shop (that was more than ten years ago!) and this one seems to be as good as I remember the other one to be (is it just me or do things tend to seem better in our recollection than they ever end up being when we go back to a product/food/place of our youth?).

\\
You can see the texture difference between the Korres (on top) and the Sugar (on the bottom).

And some random lip treatments!

Avon Blue Royale Vs OPI Russian Navy Suede & Ink Suede

So the first to compare is OPI Ink Suede vs the Avon blue suede. OPI Ink is very similar but more purple leaning.

And here is the Avon side by side with Russian Navy Suede. These two are nearly identical. I say nearly as the Avon colour is about a shade in a half to two shades darker.

And here is Russian Navy Suede and Avon Blue Royale swatched on the nail so you can see the subtle difference  As you can see, avon is slightly darker.
