Chalkboard Nails

We have all heard the phrase "like nails on a chalkboard" before. In fact, just typing it sends a chill down my spine. But thanks to Ciate, we all may soon have a very different association with nails and chalkboards. Leave it to the company that brought us caviar manicures, velvet nails, sequin nails and more. Now its chalkboard nails! The packages will include black chalkboard paint nail base, four liquid chalk pens (in blue, green, pink and white) as well as a clear top coat. Now for someone like me with super short nails I am not so sure I am dying to try this, but I sure can't wait to see it in action!

So what do you guys think of this of new trend? Are you dying to try it, totally NOT digging of feeling it, or reserving judgement?

  1. At first I thought this was a really cool concept and that you could change the design during the day and stuff like that....but if it comes with a top coat, I assume you draw your design and then seal it in...which surely makes it no different to using a nail art pen and then popping your top coat on top of that?? Also if the top coat ends up being glossy then surely it loses the chalkboard look to it? A matte top coat would be better I think (which it obviously may come with!) I'm not really impressed by the idea of this but will leave final judgement until I see it in action I guess! As always though, I can count on your blog to bring me all the new nail polish trends! Thanks :) xxx

    1. It's hard to tell from the picture, but according to the second line below "Ciate" it is a matte top coat. I wonder how good of a mattifying top coat is is, though.

  2. Looks very cool! I have done similar art with permanent markers, but nothing as vibrant as this.

  3. I don't like that they're using the term "Chalkboard Nails" because there is a wonderful blog by that name. Yet another product full of BS from Ciate
